Summer Science Social

  • Royal Museum for Central Africa

Dear everyone,

Do you know it’s only been three years since greenlight for girls launched its first, now flagship event in our international community in Brussels?   Since then, we have grown immensely covering 5 continents, more than 800 volunteers and touching the lives of more than 6000 girls.

We are very thankful to the many volunteers we have had in Belgium over the years (some who have then helped in our other g4g events around the world).  You have been a part of our success and we thank you!  You may also be aware that we have been funded so far in very, very little ways – depending mostly on the generosity of our volunteer network in addition to personal financial contributions and a few generous companies that have contributed towards specific expenses at a few of our events.   We would now like to grow even bigger and create a Global Headquarters in Brussels in order to reach and follow the paths of even more greenlight girls.  As we never charge children to attend our events, we now need funds to ensure that we are capable of creating g4g activities and events for free for all the greenlight children worldwide.

Introducing our Summer Science Social!

We would like to invite you and your whole family (and friends and neighbours) to join us at the Royal Museum for Central Africa on

Sunday, 7 July from 12:30noon to 5:00pm.  You may already know how beautiful the museum and its grounds are – it’s a perfect summer social location for the g4g family!  It’s also a museum all about science, discovery, history and the arts.  It is a museum featuring the elements of Congo, which is very dear to us as our g4g Board Member Joyce Lualaba is situated in the Congo and we have a greenlight for girls events there too!  The museum will be closing down for a 3 year renovation period and we found this the perfect reason to come and visit this beautiful museum with our families whilst enjoying a themed lunch and a couple of workshops for the children. We have arranged for Tours of the museum as well!

We invite all our greenlight for girls’ families, volunteers, teachers and parents as well as the students and alumni of one of our Brussels partners, Boston University in Brussels as well as special guests.

The Day will begin with a themed relaxed lunch in the inner courtyard of the Museum enjoying the Sun.  During lunch, we will hold a tombola so be sure to bring spare change to try your luck in winning some great prizes such as a Day at the Spa, A private yoga class, one night at a boutique hotel, a case of Prosecco and many, many more all in the sphere of raising money for our Global projects and the Launch of our scholarship in the Congo!  Tombola/Raffle tickets will cost 2euros each so make sure you bring enough!  After lunch, the children attending can join workshops and tours of the museum – all arranged by the museum and g4g team and your entrance will give you access to walk around enjoying the beautiful grounds or exploring the museum on your own leisure.

Join us on Sunday 7 July and buy your tickets here!

Thank you everyone and we can’t wait to spend some family & science time with you and your families!

See you soon,

The g4g team
