On Saturday, April 23rd 2016...

We had the 1st annual g4g Day @BSU event! This year we are welcomed 150 girls of ages 11-15 from local communities to come and join us for what will be yet another exciting day filled with hands-on Science & Technology workshops & guided by STEM role model volunteers & professionals.

We happily hosted creative and fun workshops from faculty and staff at Bridgewater State University and the The Center for Advancement of STEM Education (CASE). In addition, Cisco and Waters also provided workshops!  We are excited about our partnership with BSU's Center for the Advancement of STEM Education.

Meet the g4g BSU Team

Sarah Thomas is part of the Board of Directors and the Americas & Education Chair. She is the ultimate teacher.  She works in International Education and looks forward to our future work with teachers to bring fun new ideas into the classroom.  It isn't the surprising to know that Sarah loves to learn -- and she loves to dive into the fun detail of the science experiments. Her work with g4g in the US here!

Jen is a sophomore studying Special Education with a concentration in Severe Disabilities and Psychology. She is the Vice President of Programming for her sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon, a programming chair for BSU's Program Council and is a writing tutor. After graduation, Jen is looking to become a high school Special Education teacher in a public school. She decided to participate in greenlight for girls because, although she is not in the STEM field herself, she finds the topics covered in the STEM field to be very interesting.

Melanie is super outgoing, and likes to think of herself as a funny person most of the time.

Christine is a sophomore and resident at Bridgewater State University.  She is majoring in Mathematics with a Pure Concentration and minoring in both Statistics and Secondary Education.  Next year she plans on finishing her commonwealth honors requirements and enrolling in the departmental honors program. Upon graduating Bridgewater State University, Christine plans on either teaching high school math or going to graduate school to get her master’s degree in Mathematics. She is currently a math tutor and a Peer Assistant Leader for Calculus at Bridgewater State University.   She particularly enjoys being a Peer Assistant Leader as it can also be known as a teaching assistant because they teach their own section as part of the Calculus I class.  Not only is Christine excited to help others with Mathematics at Bridgewater State University, but ready to continue to do so for the rest of her life!
