The g4g / Solvay partnership
History & goals
Solvay and greenlight for girls (g4g) have been working together to inspire girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for since 2019. We have partnered together and collaborated in two incredible events in the past: annual g4g Day 2019 and Solvay’s Citizen’s Day 2020. To date, our partnership has reached 2400+ students around the world.
Together, we are working towards our shared goal to educate and inspire the communities around the world regarding STEM initiatives. With the help of Solvay’s employees’ expertise and their determination to inspire and educate the next generation of inventors, Solvay and greenlight for girls are paving the path for girls across the globe to access and learn through educational videos.
This year, we are thrilled to begin our global partnership with Solvay. We will be working on three projects that will create impactful learning, inspiration and reach across a few countries that connect to Solvay’s office locations and align with its sustainability goals. Working together on these projects, we aim to strengthen and grow our partnership over the coming years.

Solvay Innovator’s Hub
Taking the Future Innovator’s Library to the next level, we are creating and managing a virtual STEM educational module learning for young STEM adventurers which will be hosted in g4g Lab. We do so by creating informal and fun guided modular learning that highlights STEM activities, sustainability, circularity future innovations and resources on Solvay expertise and initiatives, including Solvay One Planet, Solvay City, and videos from Solvay role models. We are also collaborating with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation by putting the spotlight on circularity principles in our learning. Access the hub through this link.
Solvay Global Hackathon
We are on a mission to tackle the challenge of solving, designing and innovating for a sustainable future, together with a community of 100 young inventors around the world! Working with Solvay and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, we are creating and hosting a one week long sustainability hackathon event that links design thinking with sustainability, I, E & D and innovation to benefit girls, schools and engage role models. Solvay Global Hackathon includes 6hrs of interactive sessions around a theme. Students will meet scientists and work together in guidance of mentors to help them design ideas that benefit their communities, the world and the planet. More info here.
g4g Fellowship
Each year, Solvay contributes to the g4g Fellowship Programme in India to support 10 college bound young women as they pursue their education. These women face many difficulties education is an expensive affair, and, for parents with monthly incomes ranging below $60, saving money for their children’s education is not an option. Thanks to Solvay sponsorship, g4g Fellowship will be able to fund their education, living expenses, study material and conveyance. Armed with a formal degree, they will have equal access to the best opportunities that life has to offer.

We challenged 50 girls to create an invention that helps make water more accessible to a community. During a week of ideating, researching and prototyping, our young scientists discovered, explored and learned more about accessibility to safe and sustainable water for everyone around the world.
