(Note: This broadcast will take place at 4:30pm London / 5:30pm Brussels time).

On February 1, 2022…

We are thrilled to kick 2022 off right with our partner, AIG, and a very exciting new episode of Science, you had me at hello® .

In our broadcast, we invite awe-inspiring role models to share that ONE moment where they knew that science and their being were inexplicably intertwined. These are stories told LIVE. Participants can interact with these amazing speakers, virtually travel into their daily life, and ask them questions. Our broadcast last approximately 45-minutes and will include science tips and career advice that may help inspire your next steps. All are welcome though this broadcast is aimed at girls aged 14+.

Join us live for this exciting episode all about BALANCE! Even if you have never questioned why an apple falls off the tree like Newton, the world of physics is sure to amaze you… and what better way than to use the incredible balance of forces at work - in the lab and outside it - to inspire you! We can’t wait to hear advice from STEM professionals on how to balance professional/personal, engage in seemingly different passions, and so much more.

And… let us introduce you to some of our speakers!

Meet Charlotte, a graduate structural engineer from the UK! Ambitious, determined, and sensible, Charlotte has always been determined to learn and develop herself and achieve new personal and professional heights. What’s more? She was a previous g4g intern who studied maths, physics, and chemistry!! She is currently working at Canham Consulting where she solves engineering problems with innovative new designs and ideas.

Meet Julie who uses her Chemical Engineering degree to work in insurance, healthcare, and marketing… another proof that STEM opens many doors! Thanks to her STEM degree, which taught her to keep logic whil enabling her to think creatively, she joined the Risk Consulting division at AIG three years ago. This adventurous STEM professional loves to be challenged, and we can’t wait for her to tell us how she turned setbacks into opportunities!

Meet Anna, the Chief Executive of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts! Anna is an inspiring and experienced leader with more than 25 years leading teams across various international organisations such as the Red Cross, the UN Agency, and more. With a background in international law, international organisations, and languages – as well as a passion for human rights – we can’t wait to hear her perspective on balance, especially in STEM!

Meet Reniera, the Higher Education Lead at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in the UK! With a passion for circular economy and a background in zoology and environmental science, Reniera has over 18 years’ experience across local government and is currently setting the strategic vision for education with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

Meet Vanessa, a positive and driven scientist at Astrazeneca in the UK! As an analytical scientist with a background in biochemistry, you can find her often in a lab moving clear liquid from an Eppendorf to an instrument. And when she is not saving lives with research, she loves to play piano!

What: Our 19th broadcast episode will gather inspiring STEM role models who are excited to share their stories, their inspiration, their wishes with the attendees.

When: 1 February, 4:30pm GMT (5:30 pm CET). Our broadcast will last for 45 minutes.

Where: This live broadcast will take place on the platform Zoom. Please be reassured that we are utilizing Zoom’s safety functions and that we will be monitoring online safety during the broadcast by having a Safety Officer as part of our dedicated behind-the-scenes team.

Why: From our own Impact studies, we know that one thing is key to inspiring girls to pursue STEM subjects – and that is, to provide a community of role models. Tailored to our older g4g students who are determining what studies to pursue in university, our broadcasts “Science, you had me at hello® connect female scientists and STEM leaders to the next generation of potential engineers, scientists and curiosity-filled young women. They are designed to encourage you to think about what inspires you, to begin to contemplate your purpose and to create some ideas on how you can get there.
