We are thrilled to bring you a new exciting episode of Science, you had me at hello® !

This one will be completely dedicated to Renewal - What does it mean to reuse, repurpose, turn something old into something new… Tune in to meet sustainability experts and STEM role models who make their daily life a continual renewal!

In our Broadcast, we invite awe-inspiring role models to share that ONE moment where they knew that science and their being were inexplicably intertwined. These are stories told LIVE. Participants can interact with these amazing speakers, virtually travel into their daily life, and ask them questions. Our broadcast last approximately an hour and include a innovative experiment that you can all replicate at home! All are welcome though this broadcast is aimed at girls aged 15+.

Meet Mary McKenna, a technology entrepreneur, serial angel investor and a lover of the arts! Based in Ireland, Mary is interested in helping start and grow indigenous Irish & British tech companies and especially in working with young and female entrepreneurs. She is one of Said Business School's (University of Oxford) Entrepreneurship Experts, an Expert Advisor to the EU, a co-founder of AwakenHub (a growing community of female founders across the island of Ireland) and a trustee of CAST (the Centre for Acceleration of Social Technology).

Meet Julie Connell, an Irish Diplomat and expert in international relations and human rights! Having studied history, politics and international relations, as a member of the Irish Diplomatic Service she has served in Irish Embassies in Rome, Brussels and Washington DC and also spent a period working for the EU, as Head of Cabinet for the European Union Special Representative for Human Rights where she travelled the world engaging with countries to support rule of law and improvements in human rights. She currently works in Dublin as Director of the Strategy, Governance, and Change Unit in Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs, and when she is not there, she loves spending time with her four children and two dogs, reading, seeing friends, and gardening.

Meet Fiona Kernan, who has spent 20 years in the field of science research and innovation! She first felt connected to science after winning first prize in a science competition. Since then, she earned her PhD in molecular genetics from Trinity Coll…

Meet Fiona Kernan, who has spent 20 years in the field of science research and innovation! She first felt connected to science after winning first prize in a science competition. Since then, she earned her PhD in molecular genetics from Trinity College Dublin and worked across France and Belgium. She is currently Head of Sector for Fundamental Life Sciences and Health at the European Research Council Executive Agency.

Meet Catriona Northcote, a Political Science and Economics student at Trinity College Dublin! Previously a g4g intern, Catriona loves to mix economics with her passion for encouraging girls in STEM. When she is not working as a research assistant in the Department of Economics, you may be able to find her on the screen in the cameo role in the movie “Les Profs 2.”

What: Our new broadcast episode will gather inspiring STEM role models, excited to share their stories, their inspiration, their wishes with the attendees.

When: 11 May 4:30pm IST (5:30 pm CET). Our broadcast will last for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Where: This live broadcast will take place on the platform Zoom. Please be reassured that we are utilizing Zoom’s safety functions and that we will be monitoring online safety during the broadcast by having a Safety Officer as part of our dedicated behind-the-scenes team.

Why: From our own Impact studies, we know that one thing is key to inspiring girls to pursue STEM subjects – and that is, to provide a community of role models. Tailored to our older g4g students who are determining what studies to pursue in university, our broadcasts “Science, you had me at hello® connect female scientists and STEM leaders to the next generation of potential engineers, scientists and curiosity-filled young women. They are designed to encourage you to think about what inspires you, to begin to contemplate your purpose and to create some ideas on how you can get there.
