g4g Broadcast #17 - Nourish, with National Science Week ACT

On August 22, 2020…

Australia, here we come! We are thrilled to host a new online episode of our very own Science, you had me at hello® in partnership with National Science Week ACT and Girl Guides Australia.

For this episode, we are heading to the Australian Capital Territory! Here we will invite local inspiring role models to tell us that ONE moment, that SPARK, that apple-falling-off-the-tree EPIPHANY where they knew that science and their being were inexplicably intertwined. Register now to meet awe inspiring role models, from ocean explorers to space adventurers! This will be your chance to virtually travel into their daily life, to ask them questions and to experience the next hands-on experiment we have in store for you.

All are welcome though this broadcast is aimed at girls aged 15+ and we hope to engage 100+ ACT residents.

Wondering who will join us LIVE?

Meet Arabella Young! She is a student researcher at Australian National University having just graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours majoring in Science Communication, Ecological, Environmental and Organismal Biology. As she describes it, she figures out whether people who aren’t scientists understand science… And if they don’t, she figures out how to fix that. When she is not diving into all things STEM and education, you can find her running ultramarathons!

Tailored to our older g4g students who are determining what studies to pursue in university, our broadcasts “Science, you had me at hello® connect female scientists and STEM leaders to the next generation of potential engineers, scientists and curiosity-filled young women. They are designed to encourage you to think about what inspires you, to begin to contemplate your purpose and to create some ideas on how you can get there.
