On August 22, 2020…
Australia, here we come! We are thrilled to host a new online episode of our very own Science, you had me at hello® in partnership with National Science Week ACT and Girl Guides Australia.
For this episode, we are heading to the Australian Capital Territory! Here we will invite local inspiring role models to tell us that ONE moment, that SPARK, that apple-falling-off-the-tree EPIPHANY where they knew that science and their being were inexplicably intertwined. Register now to meet awe inspiring role models, from ocean explorers to space adventurers! This will be your chance to virtually travel into their daily life, to ask them questions and to experience the next hands-on experiment we have in store for you.
All are welcome though this broadcast is aimed at girls aged 15+ and we hope to engage 100+ ACT residents.
Wondering who will join us LIVE?
This broadcast is part of the ACT National Science Week! National Science Week is one of Australia's biggest festivals, with hundreds of events across the country annually.
What: Our new broadcast episode will gather inspiring STEM role models, excited to share their stories, their inspiration, their wishes with the attendees. This broadcast is part of the ACT National Science Week.
When: Sunday, August 22, at 3:30 pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time!) / 7:30 am (Brussels time). Our broadcast will last for 45 minutes.
Where: This live broadcast will take place on the platform Zoom. Please be reassured that we are utilizing Zoom’s safety functions and that we will be monitoring online safety during the broadcast by having a Safety Officer as part of our dedicated behind-the-scenes team.
Why: From our own Impact studies, we know that one thing is key to inspiring girls to pursue STEM subjects – and that is, to provide a community of role models. Tailored to our older g4g students who are determining what studies to pursue in university, our broadcasts “Science, you had me at hello® ” connect female scientists and STEM leaders to the next generation of potential engineers, scientists and curiosity-filled young women. They are designed to encourage you to think about what inspires you, to begin to contemplate your purpose and to create some ideas on how you can get there.
